We almost moved forward with the comfy grey armless sofa that flattens into a bed – price tag $1600 – and we’re so glad we didn’t. I’d never been to Structube before. (I couldn’t get past them name.) But Michael had and suggested we check out the one in Dartmouth Crossing, as we were still searching for two small, yet comfortable chairs to do double duty as desk seating and living room seating.
In spite of its unattractive name, we were both impressed by the modern and mid-century selection at Structube. The prices are about 50% or less from what we’d seen of local stores and online offerings. In many cases, the quality wasn’t up to the level we’d been seeing, but we thoroughly checked out the items we were considering and decided the dollar savings were worth the gamble.
We walked away with a receipt for, along with other items, a comfy grey armless sofa that flattens into a bed for $499!This Cosi sofa transforms into all sorts of shapes. Great for chatting, reading, movie watching, and additional seating. I figure we could seat 6 people on position #4 during a cocktail party!
We were quite pleasantly surprised that we both very much liked these chairs for our desks, living room guests and, bonus! for dining table as well. If you have a very small space and are unable to fit a bed there, outdoor beds are the best choice, this outdoor daybeds website is the best when it comes to quality. They’re super comfortable and won’t take up too much space. It can loosely interpreted nod to a Panton Chair – Structube’s version and perfect for our needs and budget.
When in Copenhagen, I had an opportunity to sit on an original Panton Chair. At the time, I thought it was funny looking, but oh so comfortable! Since then, I’ve developed an appreciation for its form.
The original Panton Chair was created by Danish designer, Verner Panton in the 1960s. It was the first moulded plastic chair in the world and is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Danish design.
Quite unexpectedly, we also found the perfect coffee table. As our little ritual each day, we unwind by eating supper with an episode of a series that we’ll watch from season one through to the end. As you likely know, a meal at the coffee table involves either balancing your plate on your lap, sitting on the floor with you plate up under your nose on the too high coffee table, or sitting on the sofa and hunching over the too low coffee table. Well – we found the perfect coffee table for our lifestyle!
Tip: When selecting furniture for a small home, consider all the ways each space will be used. Take plans/drawing of each space and measurements with you when you shop. Know the maximum size any item you’re considering can be. If you fall in love with something that’s bigger than the space allotted for it, walk away. It will never work and you’ll soon fall out of love with that item that won’t fit ANYWHERE!
Tip: Consider double duty furniture. Get creative about using items in more than one way. For example; an upholstered bench can be a coffee table and extra seating when company comes for dinner.
The perfect spot for an episode of Seinfeld, grilled salmon and spinach….
