The weather gods frowned on us last week. After days of sunny dry weather, the one day of down-pours on Thursday set us back a few days.
The trucking crew, followed by Laura Maillett and Matthew Wood of Kent Homes, slowly made their way from Bouctouche, New Brunswick – a 3.5 hour drive lengthened 6.5 hours due to hauling a 16 foot wide x 63 foot long building in high winds and lashing rains.
Highway construction narrowed the lanes down to small for the home to pass through and resulted in a detour through back roads.
The narrow road through Rawdon Hills forced on-coming traffic onto the shoulder to squeeze past.
Turning off the 101 one exit too soon held up traffic for a 15 minute turn around near Just Us Coffee. Good thing they decided to turn back onto the highway! They couldn’t have squeezed through the streets of Wolfville!
Home and crew rolled safely into Port Williams shortly after 5pm. It wasn’t long before we all discovered that our lot was too water logged from the heavy rains to support the transport trailer and home. More fill and tamping down will be done on Monday in the hope that our house can be rolled onto its posts on Tuesday.
Stay tuned…
Wishing, hoping, and praying.
