Squeak! Squeak! They say the squeaky mouse gets the cheese, so we squeaked (squawked really). We finally have water and power. Waiting for a final inspection from NS Power and then our Occupancy Permit. Hoping to be in before family arrives on the 13th. If not, we’ll have little elves to help with the unpacking. 🙂
Work is progressing inside and out. We’ve both agreed that we don’t want to see the house now until it’s complete. These are images from Matthew, our project manager.
Electrician, Matt has installed the exterior lights on the road side of our house. This unfinished area is the garden shed and will be sided and finished to look like an integral part of the house. There is a roll up door that will arrive soon for installation.
The deck is nearly complete. Our plan is to velcro large rolls of screen material on the sides and to suspend a sun sail overhead in the warmer weather.
Fingers crossed that we’ll be enjoying eggnog in front of the fire this Christmas. 🙂
Squeaky wheels get greased, too, and it’s nice to see the wheels rolling a bit, for a change. I imagine Mr. David Saucy, the General Manager of Kent Homes might have been at least somewhat instrumental in shifting some of these folks into high gear, although it’s hard to believe these things have been dragging on for so long. “One or two weeks” after arrival, they said, “you should be in” (the house) is what I remember. November 5th was arrival date and now it’s been precisely 21 days already, still there’s no definite date for a pre-occupancy inspection yet! I still have my fingers crossed — I just hope they don’t stay that way after keeping them crossed for so long! 😉
