Recessed Lighting for Kitchens

Recessed lights, like all directional lights, make for excellent task lighting.  They’re designed to direct light onto surfaces.   Sadly, sometimes we see recessed lights laid out in even, tidy rows on the ceiling in an effort to achieve ambient lighting.  This grid approach certainly does light things up, but the effect is flat and the ceiling becomes a swiss cheese distraction.   We’ve all found ourselves, at a social gathering, sitting or standing under one of those lights, having a hard time looking through the veiled glare from above and feeling very much like we’re about to be interrogated.  Conversely, …

Brightening A Pine Interior

Gisele and Doug travelled a long way to seek some answers.  If I remember correctly, they came to Atlantic Lighting Studio looking for brighter light bulbs than what they could find back home in Cape Breton.  Once they described the lighting challenges they were having, it was clear that brighter bulbs were only part of the solution. Goode Fun

Creating a lighting plan and helping select lighting for Kerri and Jeff Goode was a blast! They walked into the showroom with open minds and good humour and it wasn’t long before I discovered their new home would be touched here and there with whimsy and imagination.  The lighting programme for their new ultra energy efficient home called for energy efficiency, uniqueness that reflected their taste and sense of fun, and as low budget as we could manage.
