A year ago, I was given the great privilege of designing seven AirBnB suites in an early 20th century home in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. The nature of this project gave me the opportunity to let my creativity run a little wild.
I planned the suites to each have their own friendly and surprising personality, while maintaining continuity throughout and honouring the early 20th century architecture. Although each suite is unique, furnishings can be moved freely from one suite to another, allowing adjoining suites to be opened up for larger groups. In spite of serious time and budget constraints, I was able to create one-of-a-kind, playful and stylish suites that will draw guests from far and wide.
First here are the after photos for each of the suites, followed by a sampling of reviews from delighted guests, and then the before photos.
“Our suite was spacious and spotless. Lovely designed bathrooms and beds almost too good to get out of in the mornings. The house is well laid out for multiple guests but retains its heritage character.”
“Beautiful contemporary decorated and well designed accommodation with very unique and thoughtful touches that make it so special and create a wonderful atmosphere.”
“Suite 5 at the Kinley House was amazing! The entire suite was updated with modern touches and the hosts provided all the amenities one would hope for. I love the kitchenettes and all the tools that came with them and the bathrooms are spacious, bright and modern. Beds were big and comfy as well!”
” I would definitely stay here again! Loved the linens, well equipped kitchen, deep soaking tub, and lighting.
Stunning place! I felt spoiled.”
“The suites in this home are–in a word–stunning. Spotless, modern fixtures and romantic decor complement the solid wood and feel of this historic home. The bed was luxuriously comfortable and the room was cozy and warm on a cold night.”
“Beautifully renovated home that gave a wonderful authentic East Coast experience. Huge room with great amenities. Clean and tastefully decorated.”
“A nice combination of modern and heritage charm.”
